  • In an update from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the army said in a statement on Tuesday that substantial progress has been reported in the continuous efforts to counteract militant activities in the Gaza Strip. The Air Force, operating under the guidance of the 98th Division’s fire center, carried out successful strikes to destroy rocket launchers responsible for the rocket attacks on Tel Aviv and central Israel on Monday.

  • Jerusalem Post: At around 4:50 p.m. on Monday, rocket sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and across central Israel. Some 11 rockets were fired from southern Khan Yunis, 6 of which were intercepted, according to Israeli news outlet Ynet.

The IDF does not immediately provide further details on the strike, including the name of the senior Hamas member or where the strike took place. The military also publishes a series of videos showing strikes in the Gaza Strip, including the one targeting the senior Hamas member, and on tunnels used by Hamas terrorists and a rocket-launching squad.

Several loud explosions are heard over the areas, but there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The rockets are launched during the opening session of the Knesset, sending lawmakers and other attendants to bomb shelter and delaying the session.

  • 13:00 – Times of Israel: The Israel Defense Forces says it carried out dozens of strikes in the Gaza Strip in the last few hours. The targets have included Hamas headquarters, mortar launching positions, and a number of terrorists at a military compound, according to the IDF. The IDF says it also struck the command center of Ali Qadhi, a commander in the Hamas commando forces, who was killed in an Israeli strike two days ago.

A video released by the military shows two buildings being shelled, at least one from the sky. It says the attacks seen in the video were carried out Sunday and early Monday.

  • 22:00 – Times of Israel: The Israel Defense Forces says it has struck and killed a senior Hamas commander in the Gaza Strip. The IDF says Muataz Eid, the head of the terror group’s national security southern district, was killed in an airstrike following intelligence efforts by the Shin Bet security agency and Military Intelligence Directorate. The military says it has struck more than 250 targets throughout the Gaza Strip today, mostly in its north. The targets have included Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad military headquarters, observation posts and several rocket launching sites, according to the IDF.

  • 22:00 – Times of Israel: The Israel Defense Forces says it is carrying out new airstrikes against targets belonging to the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon. The IDF says further details will be provided soon. The strikes come after the terror group launched at least six anti-tank guided missiles at an Israeli town and a number of military posts on the Lebanon border earlier today. There was also rocket fire claimed by Hamas from Hezbollah-controlled southern Lebanon.

  • 19:10 – Times of Israel: The Israel Defense Forces says infantry forces and tanks entered Gaza Strip territory today in “localized raids” in order to clear the area of potential terrorists and locate missing Israelis. According to the military, the troops scanned and collected various findings “that may help in the effort to locate the missing.” The IDF says the troops also killed a number of terrorists in the area, including a Hamas cell that launched anti-tank guided missiles at Israel. The troops did not enter deep into Gaza, Channel 12 says.

They have taken both Israeli soldiers and civilians hostage, and some have been brought back to Gaza. Meanwhile, fighting is continuing with militants who still hold pockets of southern Israel. Barrages of rockets are also being fired at Israeli cities and towns, with Tel Aviv and Rishon Lezion among those hit in the evening.
