In Memoriam, Lech Kaczynski

April 12, 2010

Dear Members and Friends,

A tragedy befell a great champion of missile defense over the weekend.

Our deepest sympathy and empathy goes out to the people of Poland for the loss of President Lech Kaczynski and 95 other prominent Polish leaders in a tragic plane crash. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those that passed and to the people of the great country of Poland.

President Kaczynski was a champion of bringing U.S. missile defense to Poland through two U.S. Administrations and led the charge for NATO and Europe to host U.S. missile defenses that will counter threats from the Middle East. U.S. Patriot units are deployed in Poland today and the Aegis Ashore platform will be deployed in the future because of his efforts.

MDAA had the honor and privilege to meet President Kaczynski when Nancy Reagan received  Poland’s highest honor, the Order of the White Eagle, posthumously for her husband, President Ronald Reagan; as well as when he reviewed the Ground-Based Interceptors at Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA.

May god be with him, all those who perished and the Polish people.

Niech Was Bóg Blogoslawi.
