SSG Jose Galvan is currently assigned as the Battalion S6 (Signal) Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) with the 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Regiment.
SSG Galvan has performed well above his current pay grade from Exercise America’s Shield through the entire mobilization for Operation Noble Eagle. In addition to his duties as the S6 NCOIC, SSG Galvan also serves as the primary Information Management Officer (IMO) for the Battalion. He single-handedly manages cyber compliance for 225 personnel across five installations and four military branches in the NCR region.
SSG Galvan has 10+ years of experience joining the Ohio Army National Guard in 2017 following his initial enlistment to Active Duty as an Infantryman (11B) with the 1-135 Armored Regiment. His current MOS is 25U, Signal Operations Support Specialist. SSG Galvan’s diverse background lends him a wealth of technical and tactical expertise that has become revered from peers and superiors alike. Previous assignments of his include serving with 1-137th Aviation Regiment as a Radio Retransmission Operator, with 5-54th Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB) as a SATCOM System Operator and Maintainer, and with 2-174th ADA as their Forward (FWD) signal support to The United States European Command (EUCOM).
SSG Galvan’s accolades include 2 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Army Achievement Medals, 1 Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserves Medal with M Device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Drivers and Mechanics Badge.
When not in duty status, SSG Galvan aspires to be a Radiation Therapist while also pursuing a career in IT and Networking. SSG Galvan maintains a COMPTIA Security+ certification and is actively pursuing various paths for his next certification. He is currently single and loves to travel.
