The Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance is proud to announce the Spring 2017 Major General John G. Rossi Military Fellows.

Captain Amanda Del Re
Captain Amanda Del Re is a U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Officer. She is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. She has served in combat as a Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar (C-RAM) Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer, as well as a PATRIOT Battery Commander. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English from James Madison University. Currently, Amanda is attending the Naval War College in Newport, RI where she will graduate in June 2017 with a Master’s in Defense and Strategic Studies and a Certificate in Ethics and Emerging Military Technology.

Captain Jason Edward Roberts
A native of Candler, North Carolina, Captain Jason Roberts is a 2004 graduate of Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, North Carolina where he received his B.A. in History and subsequently, received his commission into the Air Defense Artillery from the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2006. Captain Roberts has held a variety of positions in the Air and Missile Defense community to include command of Echo Battery, 3-4 ADAR, the only air defense formation in Department of Defense with forcible entry capability.  Jason holds a Master of Arts in Management from American Military University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Marshall University. Jason is married to the former Elizabeth Wood, a former Army Nurse. They have six children Jannah (8), Brendan (6) Joseph (4) and Mary (2) Clare (1) and Andrew (1). He is currently a student at the Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Collin Meisel
Collin Meisel is a Master of Public Policy candidate and 2016 McCourt Scholar at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. As a former Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Collin has led airfield security missions in more than 40 nations, securing aircraft for the Vice President of the United States of America, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and other national and military leaders. In the future, Collin plans to continue supporting U.S. national security objectives, but from a more policy-oriented, strategic perspective.

The Major General John G. Rossi Military Fellowship is open to veterans and current members of the United States armed forces who exemplify the exceptional characteristics of its namesake. MG Rossi Military Fellows work on the MDAA staff to advance our mission of educating the American public about missile defense. This fellowship provides service members an opportunity to apply the skills they have acquired in the military to advancing advocacy efforts on a key national security issue.

The position is named in honor of Major General John G. Rossi, former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence. MG Rossi was an exceptional leader in the field of air and missile defense. Prior to commanding FIRES, MG Rossi was the director of the Army Quadrennial Defense Review Office and served as the commanding general of the 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas. Before he passed away, MG Rossi was nominated by the President to take command of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command.

Mission Statement

MDAA’s mission is to make the world safer by advocating for the development and deployment of missile defense systems to defend the United States, its armed forces and its allies against missile threats.

MDAA is the only organization in existence whose primary mission is to educate the American public about missile defense issues and to recruit, organize, and mobilize proponents to advocate for the critical need of missile defense. We are a non-partisan membership-based and membership-funded organization that does not advocate on behalf of any specific system, technology, architecture or entity.
