Sullivan takes over key military subcommittee with eye on Alaska

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Alaska’s military communities now have a key advocate on Capitol Hill. Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, is taking over an important Senate subcommittee that keeps an eye on bases and personnel. The senator says he has his sights set on bolstering the Last Frontier.

Sullivan says his new post, as the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, gives him a key voice when it comes to military training, base construction and decisions on base closures. Sullivan says with historic defense funding coming from this Congress, he is confident Alaska’s missile defense capability at Fort Greely, airpower at Eielson and other programs at Alaska installations will remain well funded.
