Israel to deliver ‘Iron dome’ system to Azerbaijan

October 4, 2016

News.AZ:

According to 1news.az, MP Yevda Abramov said the system is ready for being delivered to Azerbaijan.

“This system will not allow Iskander rockets to fall on the ground,” he said.

Earlier Yerevan demonstrated the Iskander ballistic missile system along with various kinds of Russian military hardware during a military parade on the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s formal independence.

He also said that the Azerbaijani army will soon be enriched with new strategic long-range missiles.

“The UAVs purchased by Azerbaijan from Israel and used during the April hostilities created a great stir in Armenia,” the MP said.

‘Iron dome’ is a tactical system of air defense intended for protection from uncontrolled tactical missiles with the flight range from 4 to 70 kms.

The system was developed by Israeli company Rafael.

Each battery can protect an area of 150 square kilometers.

By the end of 2014 the ‘Iron Dome’ batteries had successfully downed 1200 rockets in Israel. There is an anonymous report of potential plans to increase the range to 250 km. Rafael says that the system can down airplanes at the height up to 10 km.
