Russian nuclear bombers on mission near North Korea stopped by fighter jets

Tupolev-95MS bombers were intercepted by South Korean and Japanese fighter jets while flying over neutral waters, Russia’s defense ministry said.

The bombers, codenamed “Bears” by NATO, had a tense mid-air stand-off with the fighter jets during parts of the flight.

Russia’s Sukhoi-35S fighter jets and A-50 aircraft also took part in the provocative flight over the Pacific Ocean and other seas.
