New Houthi Cruise Missile Could Be A Game Changer in The Protracted War in Yemen

Demonstrating a formidable ability to project power, Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired a new Quds 2 cruise missile at a Saudi Aramco bulk plant located in north Jeddah, coming on the heels of the just concluded virtual G-20 summit of world leaders. The strategic implications of this development are profound, as it suggests a Houthi capability to strike virtually anywhere in the Kingdom.

That facility is just southeast of Jiddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, a major facility that handles incoming Muslim pilgrims en route to nearby Mecca.

Online videos appeared to show a tank farm similar to the bulk plant on fire. Details of the videos posted predawn, on Monday, matched the general layout of the bulk plant. Saudi Aramco has said that a strike by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on its plant in Jeddah tore a hole in an oil tank, triggering an explosion and fire that was quickly extinguished…
