Defense Post:

The US announced Tuesday the sale of major missile defense systems to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) worth more than $5 billion.

The State Department said Saudi Arabia would buy 300 Patriot MIM-104E missile systems, which can be used to bring down at long-range incoming ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as attacking aircraft.

Separately, the US will sell THAAD surface-to-air missile systems to the UAE for $2.25 billion.
