Washington Business Journal:
Northrop Grumman Corp. is set to provide the Air Force with its Global Hawk RQ-4 high altitude surveillance drone through 2030 as part of a new $4.8 billion contract.
The Air Force issued a presolicitation Wednesday on FedBizOps for a sole source award to modernize, retrofit and produce all variants of the unmanned aerial vehicle as part of a contract dubbed Global Hawk EPIC II.
The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) vehicle is intended as a follow-on to several Global Hawk contracts the Falls Church defense company (NYSE: NOC) has with the Air Force, which has deployed the high altitude surveillance drone since 2001.
