North Korea to halt nuclear, missile tests, says Kim Jong-un

North Korea will immediately halt its missile and nuclear tests and dismantle its nuclear test site at Punggye-ri, Pyongyang’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced on 21 April ahead of summits set to take place with South Korea and the United States.

The state-run media outlet quoted North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, who is scheduled to hold talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on 27 April and with US President Donald Trump in late May or early June, as saying in a 20 April speech that no further nuclear tests or test-firings of ballistic missiles are necessary for now, “given that the work for mounting nuclear warheads on ballistic rockets” has been completed.
