US Navy takes delivery of new missile defense radar system

The US Navy has taken the delivery of its AN/SPY-6(V)1 Air and Missile Defense Radar System at the land-based test site Combat Systems Engineering Development Site (CSEDS), in Moorestown.

The radar will be fitted on New Construction Flight III Destroyers, with the first one being the USS Jack H Lucas (DDG-125) in 2024.

It is expected to provide better fleet capabilities. The power distribution system of the radar will be tested and integrated to assist new SPY-6 operations…
