Top U.S. officials on Wednesday condemned North Korea’s latest ballistic missile launch as a violation of multiple U.N. Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, while not ruling out the possibility of deploying additional missile defense systems to South Korea.
During a regular press briefing, State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said Wednesday’s launch demonstrates how North Korea’s weapons programs “pose a threat to peace and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific,” adding that the U.S. continues to engage Chinese counterparts even though Beijing has been less forceful about rebuking Pyongyang’s missile tests.
Price also did not rule out providing South Korea with additional Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) batteries, something president-elect Yoon Suk-yeol pushed for on the campaign trail but did not include on a list of 110 key tasks for his administration…
