Watertown Daily News:
U.S. Rep. Elise M. Stefanik continued her push to make Fort Drum a new missile defense site, penning an op-ed for the Washington Examiner about the post’s potential value.
“An East Coast Missile Defense site located at Fort Drum would expand the battlespace, provide greater decision time, protect the entire continental U.S., and offer a different angle of intercept — all factors that significantly increase the accuracy and effectiveness of our continental U.S. missile defense system,” she said in the letter published Thursday.
She also said the post’s airfield, railroad line and access to Interstate 81 made it able to handle transportation and utility needs.
