Should the DoD shift focus toward passive missile defense?

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The Pentagon’s leaders in missile defense are pushing to shift focus in missile defense development efforts to passive missile defense, non-kinetic means of taking out threats and defeating threats before they even launch.

“We need to push for integrated warfighting solutions beyond an active defense,” U.S. Strategic Command’s deputy commander, Maj. Gen. Rick Evans, said at the Space and Missile Defense Symposium August 6.
