Patriot air-defense system debuts at former American air base in the Philippines

The U.S. Army for the first time has deployed Patriot missile launchers to this sprawling facility shared by commercial and military aircraft north of Manila. A pair of launchers from the Okinawa-based Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment pointed skyward Thursday from a field at Clark’s Air Force City, home to Filipino airmen who share a nearby runway with commercial jets visiting Clark International Airport.
