Orbital ATK (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, today announced the successful demonstration of the Zombie Pathfinder short-range ballistic missile target, the first of its type launched by Orbital ATK, for the U.S. Army under NASA’s Sounding Rocket Program.
Zombie Pathfinder is a guided low-cost target representing a class of threats. The mission, launched from the White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, New Mexico, demonstrated the upgraded single stage model. This next-generation target, built by Orbital ATK’s Technical Services Division in Wallops Island, Virginia, and the Launch Vehicle Division in Chandler, Arizona, incorporates a new configuration representing a different class of threats which can be used to demonstrate defensive protection capability.
