Redstone Alabama:
According to the Senate Armed Services Committee, Major General James Dickinson has been confirmed by the full US Senate to take over the Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command and be promoted to Lieutenant General.
He will also take command of the Army Forces, Strategic Command and the Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense. A change of command is still being scheduled and no details have been announced.
He will replace Lieutenant General David Mann, who has led the unit since August 2013. Mann was originally to have been replaced by Major General John Rossi, but in July, Rossi committed suicide in his quarters on Redstone Arsenal.
Dickinson is currently the Chief of Staff at the US Strategic Command, and was previously assigned as the Director for Test at the Missile Defense Agency on Redstone Arsenal and as the Deputy to the Inspector General at the Pentagon.
