NATO has started to respond to the development and deployment of new missile systems by Russia, as DW reported citing NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
“On Thursday we will consider the response of the NATO to the challenge represented by new missile systems of Russia,” Stoltenberg stated, reminding that the development and adoption of 9M729 missile by Russia (SSC-8 according to NATO classification) became the reason for termination of Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
“SSC-8 is only one of the challenges that we face. That is why we will discuss our response to a number of the Russian missile systems, usual and nuclear, which are already deployed and those, which are currently under development,” Stoltenberg specified.
