Moscow Denies Delivery of Missile Defense System to Iran, Despite Reports from Tehran

Algemeiner:

Russia denied it had delivered part of a missile defense system to Iran on Thursday, the Saudi-owned pan-Arab news outlet Al Arabiya reported.

Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow had yet to set a date for the delivery, because Iran hadn’t paid for the system, called S-300. Peskov’s statement echoed the Russian Defense Ministry’s denial on Wednesday of Iranian media reports that the first S-300 unit would be delivered to Iran on February 18.

The Russian-made S-300 surface-to-air missile system is considered to be one of the most advanced in the world. It is capable of intercepting and shooting down multiple aircraft and long-range cruise and ballistic missiles.
