After receiving requests to extend the public comment period for proposed missile defense flight testing and target tracking activities by 60 days from both the lieutenant governor and the speaker, the Missile Defense Agency, along with Joint Task Force-Micronesia Command and Joint Region Marianas Command, has decided to extend the comment period by 30 days, as well as host meeting opportunities with the public and local officials.
The public comment period began June 3 and was scheduled to end July 2. According to U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Heath Collins, the MDA director, the deadline has been moved to Aug. 2.
