Lockheed wins $638M Navy ship defense system contract

Washington Technology:

Lockheed Martin has won a potential nine-year, $637.6 million contract to perform engineering support for combat management systems the Navy uses for missile defense missions.

Two other bids were submitted for the contract that also covers in-service configurations and integration of new or upgraded warfighting capabilities, the Defense Department said in its Thursday awards digest.

The Ship Self-Defense System provides anti-air defenses for ships, including weapons and countermeasures to fend off threats such as cruise missiles.
