Amid rising tensions across the Taiwan Strait, Japan has been drawing closer to Taiwan on security issues, strengthening information sharing and communications.

Senior legislators from Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party involved with diplomacy and defense last year welcomed counterparts from Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party at their headquarters in Tokyo to exchange views on China’s increasing military pressure and the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region.
