Decision On Fort Drum Missile Defense Site Delayed

Fox 28 WNYF:

A decision on putting a missile defense site at Fort Drum, bringing hundreds of jobs, has been delayed…again.

An announcement was expected earlier this year, but we can tell you the decision is now part of a larger review put in motion by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

The results of what’s called the Ballistic Missile Defense Review have to come out first and that won’t happen until the end of the year.

Representatives from the Missile Defense Agency visited the north country last summer to speak with residents about the proposal.

Agency officials said a site could house up to 60 missiles called ground-based interceptors.

A study said the site could add at least 950 military and civilian jobs.
