China has revealed for the first time scenes of successful intercepts of targets using its own ground-based midcourse missile defense system.
China’s state-run CCTV on Sunday disclosed the tests that were carried out on January eleventh, 2010 and January 27th, 2013.
The report said an expert of a research center in China’s northwestern region had conducted the two successful tests after nearly three decades of research.
Observers say the latest report apparently is aimed at responding to Seoul and Washington’s decision to deploy the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense(THAAD) missile defense system on the Korean Peninsula.
Chinese media said China unprecedentedly underlined the existence of a missile expert and revealed images of the missile intercept tests with the pending THAAD deployment in South Korea.
