America’s Homeland Missile Defense System Is Much More Effective Than Critics Claim

It is now 16 years since the United States suffered the worst attack ever mounted on our country in modern times. Among the many lessons that we should have learned from the carnage of 9-11 is that there are some enemies who cannot be deterred. Maybe they are insane. Maybe they are willing to sacrifice their lives to a cause. Or maybe they just can’t think straight in a crisis.

For those challenges, Washington needs something more than the threat of retaliation to protect the American people. One such challenge is the growing nuclear capabilities commanded by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a brutal dictator who seldom misses the opportunity to tell us what his intentions are. He wants to be able to attack America with nuclear warheads carried on long-range ballistic missiles.
