The USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62), a U.S. Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer

Dear Members and Friends,

Over the weekend, the Missile Defense community suffered a tragedy with loss of seven U.S. Sailors aboard the USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62), a ballistic missile defense (BMD) ship deployed out of Yokosuka, Japan for the BMD defense mission against North Korea (link). The ultimate sacrifice of human life, they served a selfless mission of service for the nation, unwilling and unknowing of the circumstances that took place to cause their tremendous loss of lives. Moments of silence and reflection to them, their families and friends for their greatness as we grieve upon the loss of their lives.

God bless them and their families

Mission Statement

MDAA’s mission is to make the world safer by advocating for the development and deployment of missile defense systems to defend the United States, its armed forces, and its allies against missile threats.

MDAA is the only organization in existence whose primary mission is to educate the American public about missile defense issues and to recruit, organize, and mobilize proponents to advocate for the critical need of missile defense. We are a non-partisan membership-based and membership-funded organization that does not advocate on behalf of any specific system, technology, architecture or entity.
