Hatim A. Tyabji

Hatim A. Tyabji (1945 – 2025)

A man of integrity, character, grit, and moral courage; a visionary and a giant of staying the course to make the world a safer place through Missile Defense.

From our boardroom meetings to the missile fields in Fort Greely, Hatim poured his boundless energy and passion into making the world a safer place. As an original board member of the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance, he spent more than twenty years leading with fierce independence and ensuring hard courses of action stayed true to the integrity of the mission. He championed missile defense and thoroughly enjoyed presiding over multiple of our MDAA “Missile Defender of the Year” ceremonies with a dignified message and presence.

His global business successes, exemplified by his leadership at VeriFone, Best Buy, Bytemobile, BMW, and other organizations, represent his brilliance. Hatim’s legacy embodies the words of President Roosevelt: “He is a true man in the arena who has been marred by dust, sweat, and blood; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who knows in the end the triumph of high achievement.”

We will carry forward the moral courage and relentless passion you instilled in us.

“It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees” – Emiliano Zapata

Mission Statement

MDAA’s mission is to make the world safer by advocating for the development and deployment of missile defense systems to defend the United States, its armed forces, and its allies against missile threats.

MDAA is the only organization in existence whose primary mission is to educate the American public about missile defense issues and to recruit, organize, and mobilize proponents to advocate for the critical need of missile defense. We are a non-partisan membership-based and membership-funded organization that does not advocate on behalf of any specific system, technology, architecture or entity.
