THAAD batteries are now deployed to Guam for two year permanent deployments starting this year with Echo 3 to allow the soldiers’ families to accompany them after seeing the effects the constant readiness and high stress of changing crews, personnel, and equipment for every 12 month temporary deployment with the last being Bravo 2. The lessons learned from the THAAD deployment at Guam, from the environment and the system, can be carried forward to future THAAD deployments starting in South Korea next year and likely deployments in Europe and the Middle East.
We had the honor yesterday to be in Guam, with Task Force Talon, to honor and recognize our best Missile Defenders of Guam this past year from Bravo 2 in this critical mission of keeping Asia and Guam stable and safe from the North Korean ballistic missile threat. The leadership and excellence of our Air Defense Soldiers in Guam overmatch the North Korean threat and have made our nation and world a safer place this past year.
Congratulations to our leaders of excellence in Task Force Talon at Site Armadillo for 2016 on Andersen Air Force Base. Click here to view the program with biographies of each of the winners.
