TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan military is replacing its older Portable Search and Target Acquisition Radars with newly developed Hawk Eye radars.
The Army has allocated NT$3.247498 billion (US$100 million) since 2022 to procure 11 Hawk Eye radars and 65 radar data display terminals to enhance air defense capabilities, Liberty Times reported. According to the 2025 national budget, the Army began fielding this new radar system in 2023, with full deployment expected to be completed by 2026.
Earlier this year, the Army Training and Doctrine Command announced a finalized procurement contract, commissioning the Armaments Bureau to print the Hawk Eye Radar Engagement Control System Training Manual, which was delivered at the end of March. This marked the first time the Hawk Eye appeared in public documents.
