Latvia to Invest €250 Million in Air Defense and Drone Technology in 2026

Latvia next year plans to allocate €200.54 million to strengthen air defense and €50 million – to develop unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities, in total about €250.54 million for defense technologies and drones.

Minister of Defense Andris Spruds announced these plans at a press conference. The information was confirmed by Latvia’s Ministry of Defense.

According to the minister, the budget for 2026 will be allocated between air defense and the development of drone systems: €200.54 million for air defense and €50 million for drones, which is significantly higher than this year’s funding, when €20 million was directed to drones.
