Türkiye’s domestically developed GOKSUR IIR infrared seeker-headed missile successfully struck a low-altitude target flying close to sea level in a test launch from the GOKSUR 100-N Vertical Launch System (VLS), defense officials announced late Monday.
The missile, developed by Aselsan and TUBITAK SAGE, hit a high-speed target at a range exceeding 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) in tests conducted in Sinop, marking the first time a Turkish-made missile has struck a near-sea-surface target with a direct hit.
Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) head Haluk Gorgun said the successful test represents a game-changing air defense capability for naval platforms.
