Guam governor ‘not satisfied’ with DOD decision on island missile defense system

The Defense Department announced Tuesday it would move forward with the construction of an $8 billion missile defense system for Guam, despite significant impacts to the remote island’s environment and community.

Site preparation for the Enhanced Integrated Air and Missile Defense — designed to counter cruise, ballistic and hypersonic missiles potentially launched by China or North Korea — could begin later this year.
