ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Sens, Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, and Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., along with the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) announced new legislation on Thursday aimed at strengthening and expanding the U.S. missile defense system.

The IRON DOME Act, according to Sullivan and Kramer, will protect the country from nuclear missile threats coming from adversaries like China and Russia.

In the joint announcement, the senators said the newly introduced legislation is intended to work hand-in-hand with President Trump’s executive order, Iron Dome for America.

The Iron Dome Act will provide billions of dollars toward missile defense efforts in areas like Fort Greely in Alaska and Fort Drum, New York, as well as to fund research.
