Yesterday we championed and recognized the new ranking member of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces subcommittee Rep Doug Lamborn in his home district of Colorado Springs. Hosting our 37th Congressional Roundtable “The Future of Space and Missile Defense” with the Colorado Springs community as a diversity of leadership came together to listen and interact with their public elected Representative on his new position. This district of Colorado Springs, Colorado is home to the core of the United States Space and Missile Defense mission with Peterson Space Base, NORAD, NORTHCOM, SPACE COM, Schriever Space Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, and Fort Carson of the US Army.
Last month Representative Mike Rogers from Alabama, ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, announced Rep. Lamborn as the new ranking member of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. The Strategic Forces subcommittee is the core congressional subcommittee regarding Space and Missile Defense policy. Space Force was born out of this subcommittee. Rep. Lamborn was first elected in 2007 has served on this subcommittee since 2009. He has replaced previous ranking member Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio) who has been the ranking and chairman of the subcommittee since Rep Lamborn has been on it.
Rep. Lamborn is a champion of missile defense and he has been alongside our annual NORTHCOM NORAD Missile Defender of the Years since its inception in 2013. This marks his third MDAA Congressional Roundtable, having also participated in “The Space Layer: Hypersonic and Ballistic Missile Tracking Space Satellites” and “The Future of Space and Missile Defense”.
