Army Technology:

The Swedish procurement authority FMV has placed an order with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) for high-mobility trucks from its HX series. The double-digit million-euro deal will see the supply of 40 trucks that will be used for transporting the Swedish Army’s Patriot air defence systems manufactured by Rheinmetall’s partner Raytheon.

Raytheon and Rheinmetall announced their teaming agreement in March 2018 and the award represents the first joint procurement project under the partnership. Of the total number of units to be supplied, 16 will be tractor trucks and 24 transport vehicles. Deliveries under the contract will begin in the first quarter of 2021.

In a statement, Rheinmetall said that the latest order ‘underscores the customer’s satisfaction with these tried-and-tested ‘military-off-the-shelf’ vehicles’. The Swedish Armed Forces has already awarded a contract for the delivery of other HX vehicle variants for its logistics corps.
