Russian missile frigate holds live-fire drills in Black Sea

MOSCOW, August 16. /TASS/. The Russian Black Sea Fleet’s frigate Admiral Grigorovich has hit a naval target with a Kalibr cruise missile in the Black Sea for the first time, the Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday.

“In compliance with the combat training plan, the Black Sea Fleet frigate Admiral Grigorovich has held a live-fire exercise to hit a surface target at a naval practice range in the Black Sea with the Kalibr missile system,” the press office said.

This was the first firing exercise held from aboard a surface ship of the Black Sea Fleet using the Kalibr precision system as part of the combat training plan, the Fleet said.

“The missile successfully hit the target simulating a notional enemy’s warship staying at a distance of about 40 nautical miles [about 80 kilometers],” the press office said.
