We acknowledge and applaud a tremendous, courageous, and historic moment in our lifetime that has brought peace on the Korean Peninsula and the denuclearization of North Korea. This remarkable feat of leadership by President Trump has made the world a safer place today. 

Halting the proliferation of nuclear weapons by North Korea is a tremendous feat and an even more impactful statement to the world. To secure and guarantee security for North Korea is a peace accord with the United States, the Republic of Korea, and China to end the Korean War. Denuclearization of North Korea comes along side North Korea’s security guarantee that this declaration states.

The continued development and deployment of U.S. and allied missile defense capabilities defending the region and the U.S. Homeland from the North Korean proliferation of nuclear and ballistic missiles has helped to enable the United States to agree to this historic summit and its resulting announcement, which includes a commitment by North Korea to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” This will undoubtedly take time and patience to negotiate the details and get a finalized agreement. During this time, it is imperative that our missile defense capabilities continue to develop and be deployed to ensure the peace and continued stabilization of the region.
