Missile tests help USN validate, accredit Aegis combat system test bed

The US Navy (USN) is using missile tests to help prove out a combat system test bed (CSTB) for its Aegis combat system, the service told Jane’s .

“The navy is currently validating and accrediting the CSTB with live missile shots that have been performed on the BL [Baseline] 9 ships,” the US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) told Jane’s in a response to queries about issues regarding Aegis in a report released in January by the Pentagon Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOTE).

The DOTE said the USN will not be able to fully assess Aegis air and missile defence until a proper test bed is developed and validated.
