MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Over 20 new Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems will enter service with the Russian Strategic Missile Force (SMF) next year, Commander Sergei Karakayev said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on Friday.
According to the official, the SMF will get “over 20 Yars missile systems in the silo-based and mobile versions.” In December 2009, Russia started to deploy RS-24 Yars (NATO reporting name SS-27 Mod 2), an upgraded version of the Topol-M (SS-25 Sickle) missile systems.
