The U.S. military on Thursday released more than a dozen photos of soldiers working on Guam’s high altitude missile defense system, during an exercise that day at Andersen Air Force Base.
According to the military, soldiers assigned to the system were performing a missile round pallet de-configuration and reconfiguration training exercise on the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or (THAAD) weapon system.
It is a land-based missile defense system that includes a truck-mounted launcher, a complement of interceptor missiles, an AN/TPY-2 tracking radar and an integrated fire control system, according to the Defense Department.
