U.S. News:

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is said to be plotting an “Election Day spectacular” — another missile launch.

South Korea’s military said Monday it will remain on high alert as North Korea may fire an intermediate-range ballistic missile, timed with the U.S. presidential election Tuesday.

“We are closely watching every move by the North Korean military at its Punggye-ri nuclear test site and other possible missile-launching sites,” an official from Seoul’s joint chiefs of staff told reporters. “The military is fully prepared to respond to any provocative acts by the North.”

A defense ministry spokesman said the country is prepared to do whatever is necessary, despite the ongoing political scandal plaguing South Korea.

“All military and security matters, including the deployment of an advanced missile defense system known as THAAD, will be pushed forward as planned regardless of the scandal,” the spokesman said.

he news of the possible missile launch comes as an apparent white paper report from the North Korean government blasting President Barack Obama was published.
