Russia’s Pacific Fleet ships wrap up visit to Singapore

VLADIVOSTOK, December 2. /TASS/. Russia’s Pacific Fleet vessels completed their business visit to Singapore on Sunday, Fleet Spokesman Capt. 2nd Rank Nikolai Voskresensky told reporters.

“Today the Pacific Fleet’s task force, consisting of the Order of Nakhimov guards missile cruiser Varyag, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev and the Boris Butoma large sea tanker – completed its business call to the Changi (Singapore) naval base, where it arrived on November 27,” the spokesman said.

During the visit, the task force’s command met with Singapore’s Navy commander, the naval base’s commander and the city mayor.

Singapore’s sailors visited the Admiral Panteleyev ship for an excursion, and were shown its armaments, including the Kinzhal air-launched missile system, and learnt about how torpedoes are launched against the enemy’s surface targets. They also inspected the Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopter.
