S. Korea, US Reaffirm North Rocket Launch would Violate UN Resolutions

Military authorities of South Korea and the United States reaffirmed that a long-distance rocket launch using ballistic missile technology by the North would be a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.

The Ministry of Defense said the two sides confirmed their resolve at the 8th Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue (KIDD) held in Seoul on Wednesday and Thursday.

High-level military and diplomatic officials from both sides attended the meeting, including Deputy Minister for National Defense Policy Ryu Je-seung as well as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Abraham Denmark and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Defense Policy Elaine Bunn.
