The Algemeiner:
An Iranian spokesman announced that the implementation of Tehran’s deal for the acquisition of a Russian missile defense system is under way, the pro-regime news agency Tasnim reported.
At a press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said, “In the new atmosphere created after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the government of the Russian Federation has voiced its readiness to deliver the [S-300] missile system and meet its commitments under the contract.”
Negotiations between the two sides over the interpretation of some technical matters are being held, Ansari said, but this will not get in the way of the contract’s implementation.
Earlier this month, a Russian source said that the delivery of the S-300s to Iran would commence in January.
