Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero on Thursday morning visited for the first time the new home of Task Force Talon, the Army unit running the island’s Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, THAAD, interceptor missile.
The governor’s visit comes just days after the Department of Defense announced a $460.6 million contract to Boeing Co. to develop an engineering design for a 360-degree missile defense system for Guam, which the THAAD batteries will integrate with.
Soldiers of Task Force Talon, formerly operating at Andersen Air Force Base, moved in recent months to a new site south of Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz in Dededo.
