US Army Spc. Daniel Branstetter returned to Ft. Hood Army Base on August 19 from a year-long deployment to Southwest Asia.
He was part of a group of soldiers with the Fort Hood-based 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, which provided air missile defense coverage for American assets in Southwest Asia.
While on deployment, Branstetter was promoted to Specialist and also received an Army Achievement medal, as well as several other individual and platoon medals. Prior to being stationed at Ft. Hood, Spc. Branstetter graduated AIT at Ft. Sill, Okla., with honors. He will be returning to Pike County for a short leave and then will be stationed at Ft. Hood to resume his duties for the US Army 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.
Branstetter is the son of Teresa and Gene Blazer, of Wentzville, and Robert Branstetter, of Louisiana. He is the grandson of Judith and Wayne McDaniel, of Bowling Green and Peggy Branstetter, of Louisiana, and the late John Branstetter.
