Dear Members and Friends,
We mark this day in time, we remember the suffering, the vulnerability, the death, the horrific audacity of our Nation being attacked through our airspace by highjacked commercial airlines becoming kinetic cruise missiles. This catalytic event on Sept 11, 2001, changed our Nation’s priority of urgency for Homeland Missile Defense which had been politically languishing since the announcement of Strategic Defense Initiative by President Reagan in 1983.
Our Nation, in a bipartisan effort, withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with Russia and urgently put forward the operational deployment of a Cruise Missile Defense system of our Capital Region that stands today, urgently put forward the operational deployment of a Ground Based Missile Defense system for the defense of all 50 states that stands today, created a new war fighting Command NORTHCOM to defend the US Homeland, created the Missile Defense Agency to rapidly develop and deploy Missile Defense systems for all of our services, and we at MDAA were founded to publicly advocate for Missile Defense.
It is of note, that Russia abdicated the ABM treaty, and the United States recently withdrew from the INF treaty with Russia as that treaty too was abdicated by Russia. Treaties with Russia have been violated by the Russians and these treaties are no substitute for comprehensive Missile Defense.
It has been 23 years since 911 and the missile threat to the US Homeland and the Western world has increased exponentially and dramatically causing billions of dollars of loss in infrastructures and loss of thousands of lives. Russia and Iran are responsible and have led direct missile/drone attacks in combat with China, North Korea watching and supporting. China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are producing missiles cheaply and proliferating missile technology at exponential rates. Their primary target is America and the change of World Order. Their strategy is to overwhelm our defenses with mass and precision and win the cost curve revolution of attrition of American and Western resources. America’s risk to National Security is now higher than it was on 9/11.
Now is time for our Nation to prioritize Missile Defense and deploy capabilities with urgency for the US Homeland.
We can not suffer, afford, or wait for another catalytic 911 to force us to defend ourselves. We have to defend our nation against all missile and air threats now.
