In alignment of our mission to make the nation and the world safer through the advocacy of development and deployment of missile defense, we are honored to bring forward our newest addition to our Board of Directors, RADM (Ret) Mark Montgomery. Mark has been involved in depth, breadth, and experience with Missile Defense in Europe, in the Pacific, and in Congress. Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership, from his 32 year-long career in the U.S. Navy to his time as Policy Director under Senator John McCain with the Senate Armed Services Committee.
In addition to being the former Director of Operations at U.S. Pacific Command, RADM (Ret) Mark Montgomery serves as the Senior Director of the Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation, as a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and as the Senior Advisor to the Chairmen Senator Angus King and Representative Mike Gallagher of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, where he previously worked as the Executive Director.
During his time in the U.S. Navy, Mark served as a nuclear-trained surface warfare officer, Commander of Carrier Strike Group 5 embarked on the USS George Washington stationed in Japan, Deputy Director of Plans, Policy, and Strategy at EUCOM, and as the Director of Operations at PACOM, before retiring as a Rear Admiral in 2017. In addition to his work in the Navy, from 1998 – 2000, Mark served as the Director of Transnational Threats for the National Security Council.
Mark graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in international relations and affairs from the University of Pennsylvania and with a master’s degree in modern history from Oxford University.
