Arirang:
South Korea responds to North Korea’s growing aggressive overtones by intensifying surveillance at sea.
Military sources in Seoul say, an Aegis destroyer has been given an official command to detect possible ballistic missile launches. One destroyer is currently deployed in the East Sea. One additional Aegis is set to be deployed if military activities in the North show a launch is imminent.
A multi-functional radar built on all four sides of the Aegis destroyer can detect ballistic missiles one thousand kilometers away and can also simultaneously track one-thousand flying targets within a 500-kilometer range.
